Of late a number of people have left 4 or 5 star ratings on google for the club. However when leaving a rating we would ask that you provide a review of why you have given that rating, unfortunately we have recently received a "bit of a rant" which was due to a non member being asked to remove his hat, twice within one evening.

The club has responded with this statement:

"Men, unlike women, are expected to remove hats indoors. This tradition is the unwritten etiquette which society expects in public buildings such as hotels and clubs.

It is not unreasonable, therefore that any male who fails to comply with this well known standard should be asked to remove their hat when inside the sailing club."

To bury this review it would be really great if you would all pur in a review to say what you think of the club. To leave a review search for Holyhead Sailing Club on the web and click on the "write a review" link on the right hand panel as shown below:

Holyhead Regatta

Here is a link to the report on the LYC website

Dates: Saturday 27th May 2017 - Monday 29th May 2017
  1. Skippers briefing will be held on Saturday morning at 08:45 in HSC club house
  2. Saturday 27th IRC 1 & 2 Warning signal 11:25, Venture as soon as possible after IRC start. Subsequent races will be started as soon as practical after completion of the previous race

Notice to all members.

From January 10th 2018, the till on the club bar will be set to charge the full prices of drinks. The members' discount of 20% will be applied on production of a 2018 membership card. This way we will all be subject to the same process, and non-members will not be able to benefit from the members' prices.

So, late payers of the membership subs (due now anyway), and non-members who have been around for so long everyone assumes they are members anyway, will still get their drinks, but at the full price until they join. And this will allow the bar staff to tighten up on the signing in rules.
The Directors have taken this decision for the benefit of all members, and hopefully the showing of our cards will not prove to be too much of a pain. The up to date list of members will be held behind the bar and Gwyneth and Trish are pretty good at remembering who has already shown their new cards.

Support for Ken Fowler

Ken Fowler is sailing his RS Aero dinghy from Lands End to John O'Groats raising money for Cancer Research and Oakhaven hospice. This Saturday 20th May, he will begin one of the most challenging legs to cross from Holyhead to the Isle of Man. If anyone is out sailing this Saturday and wants to keep him company part of the way and say hello, then he would appreciate the support. Ken has a tracker so can easily be found,
