"Please respond - Request for a brief chat re Navigation and theMorlais Tidal Energy Project, Anglesey"

We have been advised by the RYA Cymru Wales not to respond to this request as this is being dealt with by their professionals on our behalf. There are serious ramifications to safety and sailing routes used by club members and visitors alike if this project receives approval in its current state.

This has been a long campaign by our club and RYA Cymru Wales and we have an online discussion scheduled for next week. Here is the text of RYA Cymru Wales CEO's email:

Dear all,

Prior to the RYA meeting with clubs impacted by the Morlais Demonstration Zone (MDZ)next week: the RYA is aware that Mr Mike Banner is working on behalf of Morlais/ Menter Môn and contacting recreational users for their views. Please note that Mr Banner’s work is solely on behalf of the Morlais Demonstration Zone (MDZ) applicant and NOT the RYA. The RYA looks forward to agreeing a common position between the clubs next week.

We will then take this forward, on all your behalf, in discussions with Mr Banner and his employer Morlais/ Menter Môn. In the meantime, clubs can direct Mr Banner to the RYA Planning and Environment Officer, Richard Hill (This email address is being protected from spambots. Best wishes
